Saturday December 8, 2008

Met a Spanish dealer in the elevator who is at Scope. Met a beautiful writer in the elevator.  She was running late for an appointment.  We briskly moved from the elevator through the lobby and courtyard to the sidewalk where we said nice meeting you.  I was 30 feet away when I realized I didn’t know her name.  She was still waiting for the light to change so I ran back and asked if she had a card.  She said no so I asked her name.  Jori Finkel she said.  I googled her back home to find out she covers contemporary art from Los Angeles for The New York Times. She also writes for Art in America, ARTnews, Town & Country, and Art Auction magazine, where she was senior editor in New York for six years. Ate at A LA Folie again for breakfast met two ladies from Basel. Met a gallerist from NY showing at Art Positions she had the second best container Harris Liebermann.

Went to Basel and bought a water and ran into Joe, Margaret and their friend in the café with about only eight people there.  What are the odds of that? So I talked with them while they ate. Took the shuttle to Sea Fair walked through a small parking lot to the 10-person golf cart that takes you down the dock past the other yachts to the 30? million dollar,  300+ foot floating art show with 20 galleries on board.
