Art Basel Miami 2007

This is sort of a diary of my first visit to Art Basel Miami.  I’m a right-brained artist not a writer so keep that in mind. What an experience it was! Make sure you check out the four videos and the seafair link!

Some very good art and a lot of expensive gimmicky crap.

$400 million in sales at Art Basel in four days at just the main show. Not counting the 21 satellite shows.

Eric Fischl’s gallery sold a set of five from this series for $10 million.

One of these beach scenes has at least four sources of light (4 suns) and a couple perspectives.  It doesn’t seem intentional since it isn’t consistent in the rest series done in the same year.

He was born in 1949 and is still alive. He is well known, in fact notorious for some of his earlier work.

I came back and raised my prices 50%.

I booked a hotel for the next Basel in Switzerland in June. Also Art Chicago in April.
